How accounts work

Who owns the keys, what a main admin can do that an admin can't, and how people join your church.

The short version

Your church gets an account of its own. That account buys things, pays for them and holds the keys and the Central Services slots. From it, you add your main admins, admins and users. Each of them gets an email with their own sign-in, their app and their key.

The church account

Sign the church up with its own email address, something like office@yourchurch.org, and the church's name. It's the church's login, not any one person's, so nothing gets lost when people come and go.

The church account is the one that pays, so the card and the receipts are in the church's name. It holds every key and Central Services slot, and you hand those out from the Teams page. It's also where you add main admins, admins and users, change their roles and take people off. It doesn't use up a Central Services slot itself.

Keep the church account's password somewhere your leadership can get to it, like the office's password manager. If the person who set it up moves on, you'll still need it, because it owns your keys.

Main admins

A church can have two main admins. You make one by promoting an admin.

Main admins can do everything the church account can: change roles, add and remove people, buy things and handle billing. Their computer runs Central Control as the hub, with an A key, and the other devices pair with it.

The second main admin's computer can stay in sync with the hub and take over, either planned or when something goes wrong on a Sunday. The Central Control manual explains how. A main admin who wants to step back can go back to being an admin.

Admins and users

Admins run Central Control on their own computer with an A key. One key covers one computer, and that computer can do several jobs at once: lights, cameras, the mix, in-ears, slides or lyrics. Admins can also buy for the church and hand out keys.

Users are your musicians and singers. They run Central Usage with a U key on up to two devices, for example an iPad at church and a phone at home, signed in with the same account so their settings follow them.

Central Services slots

Central Services doesn't use keys. It uses slots, which cost $5 each, paid once, and every pack comes with some. Each person on your worship and production teams takes one slot (the church account doesn't). Take someone off every team and their slot is free for the next person.

Sound plans and package keys

The sound plans add sounds to the apps, a year at a time. Central Keys has the pianos and synths, Central Instrument has basses, guitars and the orchestra, Central Plugins has the better effects, Central Pedals has the guitar pedals, and Central Pads has pads in every key. Central Pads comes with every other plan too.

A plan comes as a package key that starts with S. We email it to you, and it's always under your account icon → My products.

The Central Pedal itself doesn't need a key. Central Pedal Control uses a P key, Central Control an A key and Central Usage a U key.

Setting up, start to finish

  1. Make the church account on this website, with the church's email address and name.
  2. Buy a pack, or single keys and slots if that suits you better. Discount and free trial codes go in the cart.
  3. Add people on the Teams page. For each main admin, admin and user, type their name, email and role, then press Done. Each person gets an email with a link to make their account, a download link for their app and their key. Anyone who hasn't answered gets a reminder after 3 days and again after 7.
  4. Promote one or two of your admins to main admin.
  5. Everyone installs their app and types in their key. Install the apps has the steps for each device.
  6. The main admin sets up the hub on the sound desk computer and picks a pairing PIN, then types that PIN on the other devices. The Central Control manual walks through it.
